Department of Social and Human Science Informatics
Society and Media Studies
The Society and Media Studies specialization, students specifically consider specifics such as the development of software, interfaces, and design in an electronic society on one hand, and tries to answer abstract questions like “what does it mean to be human?,” “what are values?,” and “what is beauty?” on the other.
We aim to realize good relationships between technology, people, and society by considering both of these aspects.
We combine ideas from electronic communications technology, information society theory, visual culture theory, cognitive science, aesthetic and art theory, philosophy of science, ethics, and the philosophy of science and technology to achieve our goal.
